{"id":19,"date":"2007-06-20T02:39:19","date_gmt":"2007-06-20T02:39:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nicksenger.com\/blog\/6-goodies-from-todays-writing-workshop"},"modified":"2016-10-02T12:53:27","modified_gmt":"2016-10-02T19:53:27","slug":"6-goodies-from-todays-writing-workshop","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.nicksenger.com\/blog\/6-goodies-from-todays-writing-workshop","title":{"rendered":"6 Goodies from Today&#8217;s Writing Workshop"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I attended a great workshop today titled &#8220;Writing Across the Curriculum: A Tool for Thinking and Learning.&#8221; Our speaker was <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ncte.org\/profdev\/onsite\/consultants\/egawa\">Kathy Egawa<\/a> and I really enjoyed her presentation, especially the books and websites she recommended.<\/p>\n<p>Two websites really stood out to me, and I think anyone who&#8217;s interested in teen literacy will find a goldmine of material there:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.learner.org\/\">Teacher Resources by Annenberg Media<\/a>: Be sure to check out <a href=\"http:\/\/www.learner.org\/resources\/series169.html\">Making Meaning in Literature, A Video Library 6-8<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.learner.org\/resources\/series139.html\">Conversations in Literature<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.learner.org\/resources\/series192.html\">Write in the Middle: A Workshop for Teachers<\/a>.\u00c2\u00a0 These extensive videos can help you become a more effective reading and writing teacher.\u00c2\u00a0 The Annenberg Foundation makes these resources available at no charge.\u00c2\u00a0 Free registration is required.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.readwritethink.org\/\">ReadWriteThink<\/a>: If you&#8217;re looking for thorough, well-designed lesson plans or units, be sure to visit <a href=\"http:\/\/www.readwritethink.org\/\">ReadWriteThink.org<\/a>.
