{"id":22,"date":"2007-06-23T13:41:15","date_gmt":"2007-06-23T13:41:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nicksenger.com\/blog\/a-serving-of-the-study-smart-smorgasborg"},"modified":"2016-10-02T12:40:52","modified_gmt":"2016-10-02T19:40:52","slug":"a-serving-of-the-study-smart-smorgasborg","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.nicksenger.com\/blog\/a-serving-of-the-study-smart-smorgasborg","title":{"rendered":"A Serving of The Study Smart Smorgasborg"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/thestudysmartsmorgasbord.blogspot.com\">The Study Smart Smorgasborg<\/a> is a site I discovered this morning that I think is worth checking out.\u00c2\u00a0 Say Keng Lee describes himself as &#8220;A life-long Knowledge Adventurer &amp; Technology Explorer in the field of brain-based, future-focused, change-oriented technologies.&#8221;\u00c2\u00a0 What caught my attention was his <a href=\"http:\/\/thestudysmartsmorgasbord.blogspot.com\/2007\/06\/smart-students-power-toolbox.html\">Smart Students&#8217; Power Toolbox<\/a>, which lists some great learning resources.\u00c2\u00a0 Here are a few that I wanted to highlight, along with Lee&#8217;s comments, followed by my own:<\/p>\n<p><strong>1. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/ASIN\/0684856093\/nickslists-20\">The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens<\/a><\/strong>, by Sean Covey<\/p>\n<p>Comments: <em>The difference between smart students and mediocre ones is only a thin line &#8211; POWERFUL HABITS! This book shows you all the proven strategies to develop them.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>[Nick&#8217;s comment: I just bought this book for my 15-year old, and he&#8217;s reading it this summer before he starts his sophomore year of high school.\u00c2\u00a0 I think it&#8217;s got a lot of practical advice for school and for life.]<\/p>\n<p><strong>4. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/ASIN\/0440504279\/nickslists-20\">Quantum Learning : Unleashing the Genius in You<\/a><\/strong>, by Bobbi Deporter<\/p>\n<p>Comments: <em>This book comes from the co-creator of the world-famous Supercamp series that had helped thousands of average students to develop winning attitudes towards learning as well as life design.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>[Nick&#8217;s comment: This book is a must-read for every teenager looking to improve their learning skills and their attitude about school.\u00c2\u00a0 It&#8217;s so helpful, whenever I let parents borrow it, I never get it back, and I end up having to buy another one.]<\/p>\n<p><strong>6. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/ASIN\/0671212095\/nickslists-20\">How to Read a Book<\/a><\/strong>, by Mortimer J. Adler<\/p>\n<p>Comments: <em>A perennial classic since the 1940&#8217;s &amp; the BEST in the genre. A superb guide to comprehending all kinds of reading texts. The Syntopic Reading strategies are a real gem!<\/em><\/p>\n<p>[Nick&#8217;s comment: I agree completely.\u00c2\u00a0 No serious student should miss Adler&#8217;s book.]<\/p>\n<p><strong>12. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/ASIN\/0684846470\/nickslists-20\">How to Speak How to Listen<\/a><\/strong>, by Mortimer J.
