{"id":2064,"date":"2010-11-05T05:05:20","date_gmt":"2010-11-05T12:05:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nicksenger.com\/csc\/?p=2064"},"modified":"2010-11-03T22:58:48","modified_gmt":"2010-11-04T05:58:48","slug":"pope-benedict-explains-what-it-means-to-be-a-catholic-teacher-today","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.nicksenger.com\/csc\/pope-benedict-explains-what-it-means-to-be-a-catholic-teacher-today","title":{"rendered":"Pope Benedict Explains What It Means to Be a Catholic Teacher Today"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Saturday, October 30, 2010, a teacher asked Pope Benedict, &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/visnews-en.blogspot.com\/2010\/11\/catholic-action-learn-art-of-true-love.html\">What does it mean to be a teacher today?<\/a>&#8221; Here is the Holy Father&#8217;s response:<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;Being an educator means having joy in one&#8217;s heart and communicating it to everyone so as to make life good and <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-2066\" title=\"Pope Benedict\" src=\"http:\/\/www.nicksenger.com\/csc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/Papa_Benedetto-199x300.jpg\" alt=\"Pope Benedict\" width=\"199\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.nicksenger.com\/csc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/Papa_Benedetto-199x300.jpg 199w, http:\/\/www.nicksenger.com\/csc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/Papa_Benedetto.jpg 399w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 199px) 100vw, 199px\" \/>beautiful; it means providing reasons and goals for life&#8217;s journey, presenting the beauty of the person of Jesus and making people love Him, His lifestyle, His freedom. &#8230; Above all it means holding up the goal of &#8230; that &#8216;extra&#8217; that comes to us from God. This requires personal knowledge of Jesus, a personal, daily and loving contact with Him in prayer, meditation on the Word of God, faithfulness to the Sacraments, the Eucharist, Confession; it means communicating the joy of being part of the Church, of having friends with whom to share, not only the difficulties but also the beauties and surprises of a life of faith.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;You will be good educators if you are able to involve everyone in the good of the young. You cannot be self-sufficient but must make the vital importance of educating the young generations felt at all levels.
