\"AA Teacher’s Prayer<\/p>\n

Dear God,
\nA new school year is about to begin
\nand my classroom door will soon open
\nto the students you’ve assigned to my care…
\nOpen my mind and heart to each of them
\nand especially to the ones
\nwho will challenge me the most…
\nHelp me challenge my students, all of them,
\nto study, to learn, to grow in knowledge
\nand even a little wisdom…
\nHelp me remember, Lord,
\nhow young my students are:
\ngive me patience to help them grow up
\nand insight to know the help they need…
\nHelp me to understand that sometimes
\nmy students may not understand me:
\nmay I be clear in the things I say and do,
\nand in how I say and do them\u2026
\nMy students don’t know the burdens and worries
\nmy heart brings to the classroom,
\nso help me remember, Lord,
\nhow anxious and heavy my students’ hearts may be…
\nKeep me from favoring any particular students, Lord,
\nexcept for those who most need my help…
\nLet my decisions in the classroom
\nbe fair and just, honest and true…
\nSend your Spirit to fill me with gifts
\nof knowledge and understanding, counsel and wisdom\u2026
\nLord, open my mind and heart to my students’ parents,
\nespecially those who will challenge me the most…
\nHelp me challenge parents to challenge their children
\nto study, to learn and to grow…
\nHelp me to teach as you would, Lord:
\nhelp me be understanding when I need to be firm,
\ngentle in all things,
\nand patient until the last bell rings\u2026<\/p>\n

A new school year is about to begin, Lord,
\nand I wonder,
\nwhat will you teach me today?<\/p>\n
