Nonfiction November Week 5: New to My To-Be-Read List

Worlds Elsewhere by Andrew DicksonNonfiction November comes to an end this week with a final question hosted by Lory at The Emerald City Book Review:

It’s been a month full of amazing nonfiction books! Which ones have made it onto your TBR list? Be sure to link back to the original blogger who posted about that book!

Nonfiction November has been very good to me for book recommendations. The following six books were the most interesting books I came across this past month as I tried to keep up with all the posts and comments from everyone who participated:

  1. The Prestige by Christopher Priest – Recommended by Katherine at The Writerly Reader (I’ve actually read this since reading Katherine’s recommedation and can attest to how good it is. I’ll be posting a review soon.)
  2. The Nine: Inside the Secret World of the Supreme Court by Jeffrey Toobin – Recommended by JoAnn at Lakeside Musing
  3. Worlds Elsewhere: Journeys Around Shakespeare’s Globe by Andrew Dickson – Recommended by Lory at The Emerald City Book Review
  4. The Book: A Cover-to-Cover Exploration of the Most Powerful Object of Our Time by Keith Houston from Louise at Lone Star on a Lark
  5. As You Wish: Inconceivable Tales from the Making of The Princess Bride by Cary Elwes from Sharlene at Real Life Reading
  6. Just Mercy: A Story of Justice and Redemption by Bryan Stevenson from JoAnn at Lakeside Musing

Nonfiction November 2016 is my first online reading event, and it has gone better than I ever expected. I learned about some great books, got to meet some wonderful readers, and found some new blogs to add to my rss reader. If you stopped by here at One Catholic Life over the past month I hope I have sparked your an interest in a title or two, and I look forward to future reading challenges.

So many great books to tackle! This is the first time I’ve done Nonfiction November, too, and it’s been a fun/educational experience.

Just Mercy was a fantastic book, I read it this year with Doing Dewey’s nonfiction book club.

  3. The Shakespeare book looks intriguing! And my husband would enjoy the one about the making of the Princess Bride.

How is it possible that I missed so many of these this week. I have to go through and take second looks. I hope that you enjoy your new finds. It was a pleasure meeting you this week.

  5. Just Mercy is my favorite nonfiction book read this year and The Nine is the best book I’ve ever read about the Supreme Court! Hope you enjoy them, too. I wish I’d kept track of where my recommendations came from this month… won’t make that mistake again next year.

  6. Just Mercy was really good but it left me feeling really terrible. Like nothing was fair or good. So when you dig into that one, have a palate cleanser ready!
Curious about The Book. That sounds like something I would love.

Thank you for sharing these good books you found this month. Sharing books and thoughts is the best part of blogging, I think.
