I’ve come across so many great sites using StumbleUpon. If you haven’t tried it yet, sign up today. It’s free, and you’ll be amazed by the number of fascinating, useful sites it will direct you to (and by how much time you can waste discovering them). Here are 6 sites that I’ve Stumbled Upon lately that I think are valuable for teachers:
- Two Wolves - A powerful Cherokee story to share with your students
- NaNoWriMo: National Novel Writing Month - Every November people all over the world try to write a 50,000 word novel from scratch in 30 days. Why not encourage your students to participate this year? Why not try it yourself?
- Murphy’s Teaching Laws - For example, “The time a teacher takes in explaining is inversely proportional to the information retained by students.”
- Instructables - How to make cool DIY projects - Great if you teach science.
- Leadership 101: How to Command Respect through Body Language - I’ll be using this later in the year when we get to our public speaking unit.
- How-to-Study.com: A Study Skills Resource Site - Nothing ground-breaking here, but it’s nice to have all of these study skills in one place.
